High Five Hoops Basketball Academy

bbHigh Five Hoops Basketball Academy for boys and girls.  Our philosophy is simple: let kids have fun while they’re learning and accomplishment will follow.  Age appropriate, ball handling, passing and shooting are just the basics.  Each day will be divided into five segments.  Warm up basketball activity-footwork and agility- ball handling and shooting, the day’s lesson-and finish with a game or activity reinforcing the day’s lesson.  To find out more about High Five Hoops and Coach Shaun Kearney, visit www.highfivehoops.com

Go: The Ancient Game of Emperors and Samurai

samGo: The Ancient Game of Emperors and Samurai 3rd – 5th Grade (4-40 students) taught by Devin Fraze with the Columbus Go Club: Meet Go, humanities oldest and most magnificent game. Behind the simplicity of black and white, wood and stone, lies a vast world of fun and excitement, grand strategies, creative tactics, honored patience, profound humbleness, and a life well lived. Originating in China almost 4000 years ago, Go is one of the oldest and most played games in the world. In Asian schools today kids learn Go as a fun way to improve concentration and IQ as well as develop both the left and right brain. Studies have shown quite clearly how this fun and easy to learn game can benefit the future success of the youth who learn it. Each class will start with a short lecture followed by plenty of time for the students of Wickliffe to play and hone their new craft. “Success at go requires the tactic of the soldier, the exactness of the mathematician, the imagination of the artist, the inspiration of the poet, the calm of the philosopher, and the greatest intelligence.”
